14 day Expedition Summer Camp

» Information for parents

An expedition and adventure summer camp exploring the mountains and coast of the north-west Highlands of Scotland.

Ridgway Adventure offer the chance for up to 25 young people, from all over the world, to spend 14 days here at Ardmore.

We have three expedition phases – a mountain expedition, a sea kayak journey and surviving overnight on an island – developing skills and building friendships. The summer camp culminates in a fourth and final expedition – a three day trek to Cape Wrath, the north-west tip of the British mainland.

The summer camp is a chance to make new friends, and have 'real' adventure and fun in a beautiful part of Scotland.

Following in the traditions of the John Ridgway Adventure School, which ran similar courses for 30 years before, the summer camp builds self reliance, positive thinking and a culture of leaving people and places better than they were found.

The summer camp is busy and action-packed with no time for TV or computer games but the chance to relax and reflect on a white sand beach and a day is spent at the local Highland Games.

The summer camps embrace a family feel, we all eat together, with good home cooked food. The whole experience is shared with our team of friendly and fully trained instructors.

For those from abroad, our summer camps are a fun way to practice and learn spoken English.

The 14 day summer camp fulfils the criteria for Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential.

“My great thanks to you and your team for the nice time and perfect experience my daughter Alexandra Gvozdeva had in August! She got exactly what we were looking for - deep involvement in the language environment without temptations to use her native language what broke her language barrier; a very good company of friends from different countries to increase her horizon; and extremely interesting activities which made her use her sport skills! I am really happy that we found your camp and made a right choice!”
