Winter months at Ardmore
Mild and wild
Friday February 24th 2012
Mild winds have stripped any snow that there was from Foinaven and Arkle. If it wasn't for the wind we would be outside in shirt sleeves.
This lobster boat was in Loch A Chadh-Fi some time ago now, laying creels out in front of the crofts. A rather overweight seal joined the usual entourage of seagulls following the boat, rising three or four feet out of the water to take food straight from the fisherman's hand. If you look closely you can just see it against the dark hull of the boat.
Into mid-February now and the greylag geese are returning in their pairs, trimming the grass on the crofts and bulking up in readiness for goslings in a few months time.
