It has been a busy week and the family returned this morning having survived together on the island, sleeping under old yacht sails and cooking wild foods on an open fire!

During the day the cousins were out on the orienteering course in small teams winning kit for survival. The more posts found, the greater their supplies would be!

In the afternoon they were out sea kayaking, the loch was flat calm and the skies were clear, perfect kayaking weather... and the water just warm enough to survive a capsize!

Tomorrow is the Durness Highland Gathering, an annual event and a great Scottish tradition. The team can compete individually or together in many different events, some serious and others a bit more relaxed.
