Adventure courses for prep schools

We use over 40 years of knowledge and experience at Ardmore to design adventure courses for years 6, 7 or 8. Each six day course is slightly different, all making the most of this limitless wild natural environment.

There is a fun family atmosphere at Ridgway Adventure that fosters team spirit and real adventures that are designed to stretch and challenge pupils but that can, with application, be achieved by all.

A history of adventure and exploration resonates from this remote crofting settlement and can light a fire in children's imagination of what is really possible.

Climb a mountain from a wild base camp, sea kayak in a sheltered sea loch teeming with wildlife, learn survival skills, forage for and cook wild foods from the seashore, rock climb and abseil on an ancient rocky outcrop and put all your skills together to survive overnight on an uninhabited island.

Our three guiding principles of self reliance, positive thinking and leaving people and places better than you found them, have stood the test of time and form the background of everything we do.

Your school can enjoy this experience alone - this is Ardmore!

Current prep schools include Highfield School (Year 7), Hampshire; Hornsby House School (Year 6), London; S. Anselms School (Year 8), Bakewell; Kingshott School (Year 6), Hertfordshire; Newton Prep (Year 8), London; Heath Mount School (Year 8), Hertfordshire.

“We have been visiting Ardmore for four years and I cannot now imagine taking our Year Sixes anywhere else. The remoteness, the stunning landscape, the caring staff team ... the wonderful activities all combine to make the week at Ardmore a perfect climax to our children’s time at Hornsby House.”

Jon Gray, Headmaster, Hornsby House, London
