Sea kayak weekend
A weekend of sea kayaking in a remote and wild area of dramatic scenery on the north-west coast of Scotland. An intricate network of coves and bays provide shelter from the Atlantic ocean and give home to nesting sea birds, seal and otters.
Our sea kayaking weekends are ideal for beginners and for intermediate paddlers who are keen to learn more. We will tailor the weekend to your aspirations and make the most of journeying in this beautiful stretch of coastline.
Mark and our staff will be with you for the weekend: their experience will ensure your safety while allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
We provide all specialist and safety equipment.
Full sea kayak weekend programme
Saturday
We will meet you at the Rhiconich Hotel at 10.30am, drive to our car park, unload your equipment into our vehicle, then a 10 minute walk on footpath to the Adventure School. (Please note it is not possible to drive to the Adventure School.) Meet our staff and settle in, followed by a session on the water introducing you to the kayaks and some basic strokes. After a hot lunch we paddle around the sheltered Loch a' Chad-Fi putting into practice the strokes and techniques returning to the Adventure School.
Sunday
Morning: prepare for a sea journey and learn to pack a kayak. Afternoon: we set off from the Adventure School to paddle at an even pace around the varied and broken coastline of Loch Laxford until we reach our camp site. We provide instructional advice on kayaking skills and good technique, whilst taking in the variety of bird and marine life amongst stunning scenery.
Monday
Pack up the camp and continue the sea journey out to Ardmore Point and the Atlantic coastline. In the late afternoon we return to the Adventure School for hot showers followed by tea around the wood burning stove. There will be time to reflect on your recent experiences before celebrating your achievements over a farewell dinner at our comfortable loch side accommodation.
Tuesday
Breakfast will be served at 8.00am and depart to the 'real world' by 10.00am.
