Rebecca Ridgway - Director
Rebecca (born 1967) was destined to lead a life of adventure being the daughter of John and Marie Christine Ridgway. In 1992 she became the first woman to kayak round the legendary Cape Horn.
She worked with her parents at their internationally acclaimed adventure school for 10 years. During winter months her spirit of adventure led her to explore the Peruvian Andes, the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, travel and work in New Zealand, sail to Greenland, as well as running the New York and London Marathons.
She spent 18 months sailing across the Atlantic, Pacific and icy Southern Ocean to Antarctica.
Rebecca has worked with youth development charity Raleigh International in London and as a volunteer Project Manager in Oman, after which she successfully circumnavigated the remote Musandam Peninsula in northern Oman by sea kayak.
She has written 2 books: Something Amazing, published '93 by Hodder & Stoughton, and Then We Sailed Away, published '96 by Little, Brown & Co. and been the subject of several television films. 'First Lady of Cape Horn' '93 Survival Anglia and 'Wilderness Walks' '98 Triple Echo.
Rebecca lives at Ardmore throughout the year with her two children Molly and Hughie. Its is from here that she owns and runs Ridgway Adventure.

The team in 2011
Chris and Avril were back again this year and were joined by Fran, Joe and Luke, with Hazel cooking for the courses.
John Crowsley continues to come in from Scourie each year to help run some sea kayaking and rock climbing days and Molly and Hughie lead the way in the end of course concerts.
We take on a staff team of instructors and a cook for our season, running typically from mid-April until the beginning of September
