Swimming, sea kayaking and survival skills
We started at 7:30 am on Sunday with a run or swim. The Reds and Blues swam, whilst the Greens and Yellows went for a run. After breakfast and duties, the teams set out on their day. The Greens and Yellows went sea kayaking in Loch A Chadh-Fi with Charlotte, Laura and Zeki.

Meanwhile, the Blues and Reds set off in different directions with Kev and Jon to look at the fire and food elements of the survival skills that they will need on the island. Foraging on the hillside for tinder and kindling, setting a sensible location and lighting their fires with a striking flint to cook a simple bread dough and foraged winkles and limpets.
After a late picnic lunch, the teams swapped around with the Reds and Blues heading out on the water.

Zeki and Rebecca took a couple of teams mackerel fishing last night to swell their meagre rations for the island. The other teams will go this evening or during the day tomorrow.

The weather is a bit of a mystery at the moment. Sunday was fine with a stiff breeze until late evening and today is forecast to be really windy but has turned out so far to be calm. With a fierce forecast for the mountain tops today the teams are hiking instead to the beautiful and remote Sandwood Bay. Not a summit but a wild place of incredible beauty accessed by a three-hour yomp across the clifftops away from paths and across open ground.
We are expecting them home later this afternoon for post-hike swims and evening sea fishing for the remaining teams. Everyone is well and we’ll update the journal again tomorrow (Tuesday), probably in the evening when Mark is back from the adventure school.
