Survival skills and Sandwood Bay

It has been all go at the adventure school with the St Leonards team. We’ve been working around unseasonably strong winds but have plenty of sunshine and some sharp showers… of hail! Monday was a full day of survival skills on the remote Ardbeg peninsula, with an evening camp in tents close to the adventure school.

With summit wind speeds of over 60mph in the mountains, we headed instead for the low-level and stunning hike to Sandwood Bay on Tuesday. It is probably one of the remotest beaches in the UK.

Ben and Charlotte, the two team instructors, are really impressed with the girls and boys. They are working really well together, taking everything on board, and showing a level of competence above what we would typically expect for their age. There is still plenty of weather to be dodged and changes of plans to handle, but the teams are on good form and making the very most of the experience.
