Blues battle the weather to summit Ben Stack

Reds lift their creels and go sea kayaking

What a day the Blues have had! They were treated to a beautiful sunset at the camp last night with the sun slipping down between the mountains. The morning started grey and overcast but dry – perfect for a mountain climb. The three teams had reached the saddle at 550m by the time the rain started, just drizzle at first, then rain, and a little sleet on the summit for good measure.

It wasn’t a day for hanging around on the summit and the team beat a pretty hasty retreat from the summit to lower levels before stopping for a bite to eat. The rain was fairly constant for the last hour or so but the spirits remained high and all three teams have a lot to be proud of, not only all reaching the summit in the conditions, but in the way that they remained positive and looked out for each other. So much to be gained from the challenge, and after hot showers and dry clothes back at the School the Blues had a real buzz of achievement about them.

The Reds (similar to the Blues yesterday) were based at the School today. Lobster creels, Atlantic rowing boats, sea kayaking and survival skills were all on the cards.

Lasagne and sticky toffee pudding did’t last long on the plates this evening. The boys and girls will sleep well tonight after a challenging and hugely rewarding day.
