Beautiful sunshine for rock climbing and abseiling

A bright and sunny day dawned, inspiring seven to swim before breakfast, whilst everyone else ran or played volleyball.  The morning was spent out on the sea loch lifting creels to discover a myriad of shore crabs, dog whelks, brittlestars, an immature lobster and other wonders from the deep. Visiting the open rowing boat that John Ridgway and Chay Blythe rowed across the Atlantic in 1966 and the kayak that Rebecca paddled around Cape Horn in 1991, as well as, seeing English Rose VI that has sailed around the world three times. We discussed positive thinking in relation to these adventures and survival island yet to come.

Warm sun prevailed throughout the afternoon, seeing all the class on our rock climbing and abseiling crag up the hill above the adventure school. Everyone achieved perhaps more than they initially thought they could with the opportunity of five climbs and an abseil. There was much excited chat over fish pie supper about achievements of the day.

A chance to update the John Muir Award diaries followed and teams planned their tactics for the Athlon, tomorrow mornings team event before breakfast.
