Arkle summit success

Speedy ascent with ideal weather

A super day up on Arkle today. The four teams picked their own routes up the open south-east facing slopes to the first summit before tackling the narrowing crescent-shaped ridge to the second (and higher) summit. There was enough cloud in the sky to keep us cool, with occasional bursts of sunshine and it was largely dry all day. Perfect mountain climbing weather.

The teams set near record time, leaving camp at 8.45am, reaching the first summit by 11.30am, the second summit just less than an hour later and we were back at the Adventure School by 4pm with plenty of time for swimming before supper.

The reward for all the hard work was sweeping views over the west coast to the Outer Hebrides, and to the north-east you could just make out Orkney. A great effort all round! 

Lasagna and salad for supper tonight, with chocolate biscuit cake for pud. 

Running, swimming or volleyball tomorrow morning before breakfast, then rock climbing and abseiling and Search to survive orienteering before heading out to Survival Island. Another busy day!

The team are all well and on great form!
