Survival skills ready for the island
The kids have been out this morning learning the skills that they will need to be able to survive together overnight on the island at the end of the week. We have looked at; collecting the materials for, and lighting a fire with striking flints; building shelters from tree branches and old yacht sails; foraging for and cooking wild foods, including the mussels that grow on the shores of the sea loch here; and making simple bread (damper) which they can cook on sticks over the embers.

The survival night is the kids own experience – no parents allowed! The parents seem pretty happy to enjoy a peaceful night at the adventure school with the wood-burning stove and a glass of wine over supper!
