Survivors return from the island for a hearty breakfast

Yesterday was a day for rock climbing, abseiling and pulling up creels. The teams stopped at Ardmore to see John Ridgway’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat, counted their creel catch and racked up points ascending climbs of different severities.

After tea and cake we loaded up and headed out for the island. The weather could hardly have been better, dry all night and a light breeze. The team formed two camps on different sides of the island, built shelters and cooked their food on open fires. This was their experience, with only a watchful eye from the instructors.

The bleary eyed team left the island at 7am this morning and are back at the Adventure School enjoying a cooked breakfast. Clear blue skies now for our day at the beach, a chance to relax and reflect on what has been achieved this week before heading home tomorrow.

“An early morning rise yet the cooked breakfast made the morning complete. After making our packed lunch and finding out our teams for the day we set off for the mountain.

After seeing the mountain, Arkle, Toby said “its practically Mount Everest” and we were all silently scared. Yet after a firm few hours through red deer, spotted orchids and mountain hares, we had finally reached the amazing summit!

Out of breath and proud we zoomed back down Arkle as jets zoomed past us making an extremely loud noise. We all had an amazing day and were tired and sweaty and we had a tasty dinner of lasagna.”
