Team head for the mountains

after a day of sea kayaking and shelter building

We have had a busy day at the Adventure School with sea kayaking and shelter building.  It was quite breezy for this mornings kayaking team working hard to reach a number of sheltered stretches of water and calm coves in which to look at the wildlife and learn some new skills.

The wind dropped in the afternoon making it a little easier and a bit more relaxed. 

Both teams also looked at pitching improvised shelters with old yacht sails and bivvy tarps, using hazel spars and pegs and short sections of rope.

After a mug of soup at about 4.30pm the teams set off along the track to the road end and the short journey to the old stone stables at Lone, the is the scene of our mountain base camp. Arkle is the intended objective tomorrow, and linking both summits give a day with almost 1,000m of ascent and an exciting ridge line to walk along to the second of two summits.

The team are well and the birthday boy has perfect conditions and stunning views to end his special day with all the team.
