Sea kayaking and rock climbing on Dumpton’s first full day
Beautiful weather window as a few wild and windy days approach
The team arrived at the Adventure School by torchlight last night. Twenty-nine beams from their headtorches lit the vehicle track that picks its way along the shore from the road end. A hefty day of travelling from Wimbourne.
We were up at 7am this morning and in our four teams we set off to climb to a high point above the Adventure School before breakfast. From the high point there is a fantastic 360 degree view of all the places that we will explore together over the week.
Porridge, cereals, cooked breakfast, toast and packed lunch making this morning before setting out for a full day of adventures.
The two Red teams went to the climbing crag this morning, just a short hop up the hill from the Adventure School. We set up four different rock climbs and an abseil for them to tackle together with the boys and girls belaying (managing the ropes) for each other under the watchful eye of Kev, Lewis and Mark.
Meanwhile the two Blue teams took to the water in sea kayaks. They set off from the shore in front of the Adventure School, paddling in pods with Jordan, Emma and Bradley. Exploring the sea loch, learning some new skills, flinging some seaweed and capsizing for fun.
The teams swapped around this afternoon, making the most of the fine weather before a few days of wild and windy autumnal weather rolls in off the Atlantic.
The girls and boys are all well and on good form. More news to follow here in the coming days.
