10-day Young Leaders near the end of the training phases

Mountain training and sea kayak training expeditions complete

The 10-day team were based from the old stables at Lone for the first few days of the course, a place which we have used for years as the launchpad for expeditions into the mountains. Highs winds kept us off the summits but plenty of terrain to cover to work on both macro and micro navigation.

Saturday and Sunday were dedicated to sea kayaking, heading out from the Adventure School into Loch Laxford and up the coast towards Kinlochbervie. We bivvied in small cove north of Loch Dughaill, catching fish with handlines to cook over an open fire. Lots more skills training, some bumpy seas in places, and some stunning daytime weather.

We have a final skills day here on Monday before the expedition begins.
