Team Twyford Team

First full day for the Twyford Leavers Team

Mark met the team at Inverness Airport late yesterday afternoon for the coach journey up to Ardmore. It takes a little over two hours with the last hour on a single track road that weaves its way through the mountains to meet the west coast.

The coach arrived just after 8.30pm and we bundled hold bags out of the coach and into the trailer and pickup truck for the short trip from the road end to the Adventure School, with the teams following behind on foot with their instructors. A quick bite to eat, an intro to the Adventure School to see where everything is, some unpacking and then bed.

Reds sea kayaking this morning

We were up at 7am this morning for a quick run before breakfast. Running or swimming is the norm before breakfast but with sea kayaking on the plan today we opted to stay dry first thing.

Breakfast is a three course affair with cereals and porridge, cooked breakfast and toast and jam followed by packed lunch making for today and for our mountain day tomorrow.

The Reds have been sea kayaking this morning, exploring the coves and bays of Loch A Chadh-Fi with a couple of pods paddling as far as survival island.

The Blues have been doing the routine kit checks, learning to pitch the tents and walking to a highpoint above the Adventure School from where they can get a 360 degree view of all the places that we will explore together this week.

The teams will swap over this afternoon. After supper we head for our wild mountain base camp at the foot of Arkle; the first of two nights under canvas this week and the perfect launchpad for our summit attempt on Monday.

More news to follow here later in the week.
