Great start for the Hornsby House teams
It is quite a long way from Balham to Ardmore. You’d imagine weary travellers hopping off the coach at the road end but it didn’t come to pass. Three teams of excited Year 6s (half of the Hornsby House year-group) were walking along the vehicle track at 3pm this afternoon chatting with their instructors and ready to get stuck in as soon as we reached the door.

We had a quick tour around the adventure school and then the Blue and Green teams donned wetsuits and went for a swim. The Reds used the time to check their kit with Erin and when the Blues and Greens were back onshore the Reds took their turn to swim. The raft sits about 100m from the beach. A testing swim in the cold water but great fun to jump and dive off.
The Blues and Greens completed their kit checks before we sat down for supper. Macaroni cheese, salads and chocolate cake. After supper the teams set about their duties before heading out to a high point above the adventure school.
The high point gives a stunning 360 degree view of all the places we will explore together over the next few days. For some it was a first glimpse of Ben Stack, and for all, the first time to see survival island. It is also a good spot to set some objectives for a week of challenging adventures, independent decision making and more responsibility than they will have experienced before.
The boys and girls are on great form and they certainly seem up for the challenge. More journal posts to follow as the week progresses.
