Kingshott team arrive to blue skies and sunshine

Kingshott Year 6 are here! The team arrived shortly after 1 pm today to clear blue skies and warm summer sunshine, ready for the short walk across the hillside and shore to get the Adventure School. A little bit of time to get their bearings and unpack before the two Red teams (the Red Deer and the Red Squirrels) took to the sea loch for a swim. Heated by the sun to a balmy 8 degrees it is quite an introduction to the challenging week we have planned for Year 6. The Reds swam out to a wooden raft that sits in the middle of the sea loch and jumped from the raft for fun.

Meanwhile, the Blues (the Blue Fin Tunas and the Blueberries) set about some kit faff, sorting out the core day pack that they will take with them on all the adventures, checking walking boots and waterproofs, and learning how to pitch the tents that they will use for the first time tomorrow night.

The Blues and Reds then swapped over giving the Blues a chance to swim out to the raft.

After supper (macaroni cheese, salads and chocolate cake), the teams left with their instructors to climb to a high point above the Adventure School that gives an awesome view of all the places we will explore together this week.

The forecast looks good for the week and the team are certainly full of enthusiasm for all the adventures to come.

Tomorrow some teams will be sea kayaking, others rock climbing, and all will learn the survival skills that they will need for the island at the end of the week. We will be camping at the foot of Ben Stack tomorrow night so more news when we return from the mountain on Monday.
