Rock climbing, survival shelters and lobster pots
The Highfield team walked down to the Adventure School in the half-light late on Saturday evening, taking a slightly different route than normal to avoid the high spring tide that was covering parts of the track. The first of many adventures here. A mug of hot chocolate and straight to bed was the plan.
On Sunday we took a walk up to the high point above the Adventure School before breakfast, stretching the legs and getting a good view of all the places we will explore together over the coming week.
It was a bit grey and drizzly but nothing like the BBC forecast would suggest so we continued with our plans of rock climbing and abseiling, and looking at survival shelters in preparation for survival island at the end of the week.
You would think the team would be exhausted at the end of a busy term, but not so. Full of energy and enthusiasm. The idea of four teams competing against each other at the climbing crag was all that was required to get the pupils buzzing around between the climbs and making the absolute most of the day. Great fun for our staff team to work with.
After supper we left for Lone, the remote mountain hut that is the base for our wild camp and the launchpad for our summit attempt on Arkle on Monday.
