Sea kayaking, climbing then survival island

With the Green team having sea kayaked yesterday afternoon after the end of the mountain expeditions, today was the turn of the Reds and Blues. Kayaks were adjusted and packed up after breakfast and the pupils paddled away with their instructors just after 10am to explore Loch Laxford. It has plenty of coves, bays and islands with lots of seals, and the outer reaches exposed to the Atlantic offer ocean horizons and rocky skerries.

The Greens meanwhile were rock climbing and abseiling and looking at the survival skills needed for the island tonight.

All of the pupils are on survival island this evening, a chance to put their skills into practice to survive together overnight, without the input of teachers or instructors. There is a good breeze which always helps and a couple of plumes of smoke are rising from camp fires on the far side of the island.
