Team Kingshott School

Sea kayaking, rock climbing and lobster creeling

and a trio of birthdays today

Another beautiful day here at Ardmore. The Reds have been sea kayaking today, with a healthy bit of capsizing, swimming, seaweed flinging and nature spotting. The Blue teams have been at the climbing crag, scaling the rocky outcrops on the hillside high above the Adventure School.

All teams have also been out in the boats to pull in their lobster creels with a mixed catch, including a huge dogfish, a juvenile lobster, and a whole variety of crabs of different sizes, all returned to the sea after closer inspection. Whilst out creeling the teams stopped in at Ardmore to see John Ridgway’s Atlantic rowing boat from his 1966 voyage. Its now almost 50 years to the day that John and Chay set off, a bit of an eye opener for the kids.

Pulling up the creels

We’ve had three birthdays today too. Much excitement and anticipation now building towards tomorrow night and ‘Survival Island’. The forecast is set fair and a little bit cooler tomorrow which I think will be much appreciated!

The team are all on good form and raring to go for tomorrow’ raft racing and orienteering. More news on Thursday after the kids return from the island.
