Sea kayaking, shelter building, lobster creels and climbing

It is Monday afternoon at the adventure school, and the three Hornsby House teams are coming in from their activities for a mug of soup before heading out to our wild mountain base camp for the evening. The sunshine continues with a good easterly breeze, and all is set for a fun night in the mountains before our summit attempt tomorrow.

So much has happened since the girls and boys arrived on Saturday afternoon. We’ve been running or swimming every day before breakfast. All teams have now rock climbed and covered both elements of their survival island training. Two of the three teams have been sea kayaking, and one has been out in our workboats to lift lobster creels and see my father’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat.

It looks like great weather for wild camping tonight, and we hope the breeze will continue tomorrow to cool our day in the mountains. Everyone is well and taking great strides forward as we get closer to their night on the island.

We’ll post more photos on our return from the mountains tomorrow evening, as we know that some teams are underrepresented in the photos posted so far.
