Successful mountaineers return

from wild camping and the ascent of Arkle

A busy and exciting time has been had over the last couple of days. On Sunday, everyone rock climbed and abseiled. They built fires on the sea shore and set them alight with striking flints to cook foraged winkles and limpets, making damper cooked around sticks in preparation for survival island.

Then off on their expedition to wild camp at the base of Arkle on Sunday evening, cooking their supper on camping stoves and sleeping under canvas. Everyone climbed to the top of Arkle today, with team instructors most impressed by their speed and effort. A few tired this evening after their great achievement. Early bed after a few games of cards and table football.
