Swimming and sea kayaking for the York House team
The York House team arrived just before 5 pm yesterday, after a slight delay in their flight from Luton. We loaded bags from the coach into the trailer and pickup truck and then walked the mile or so along the shore to the Adventure School. Eager to squeeze a swim in before supper, we had a quick tour around and popped bags into rooms.
The water is probably at its warmest at this time of year, but there is an autumnal chill in the air. The pupils donned wetsuits, and we swam together to the raft that sits in the middle of Loch A Chadh-Fi, where we can jump and dive into the water. Hot showers before supper of macaroni cheese and salads and homemade shortbread jammy dodgers.

Today (Sunday), the pupils are working in their two teams. The Reds and the Blues. The Red team have been sea kayaking this morning, paddling away from the adventure school, passing Ardmore and reaching the larger of the two bays of survival island. It is a bit about the journey, learning new skills, pushing themselves physically and having some fun (usually in the water or upside down).
The Blues are out on the remote Ardbeg peninsula learning the survival skills that will be so important for them on the island on Wednesday.

We are taking loads of photos that will come back home with the boys, girls and their teachers. We can only post a handful up on the journal, so please don’t be worried if your child does not appear in the photos. Rest assured that all the girls and boys are well and full immersed in the adventure.
