Teams head into the mountains for their first expedition
This morning has all been about expedition preparation. Learning how to pitch our Vaude tents and use the gas camping stoves, sorting through three days of rations and packing personal expedition kit into rucksacks. The teams also scoured the maps, looking at their routes over Arkle or Foinaven.

We had a hot lunch at the adventure school at 12:30 pm, and then the teams deployed individually to the start points of their expeditions. The weather today has been better than forecasted, and they will have had a stunning hike into the first wild camps of the expedition at about 450m above sea level.

Mark and Rebecca will join the Foinaven teams and their instructors tomorrow for the main traverse. We expect to be in the cloud for at least part of the day, but we’ll see what materialises. Maybe tomorrow’s weather will be better than the forecast too.

The next journal post will be on Thursday evening when the teams have returned from the expedition. In the meantime, everyone is well.
