Team Westbourne School

Westbourne team arrives at Ardmore

The coach arrived at the road end just after 5.30pm this afternoon after the journey from Sheffield. The girls and boys jumped off and helped us to load their big bags into the trailer and pickup truck before splitting into their teams and meeting the four team instructors; Henry, Bryony, Erin and Zeki. The walk along the remaining mile or so of single track road and then footpath to the adventure school takes just 20 minutes. This gave us the time to show the pupils around the school and for them to find their dorms before sitting down for supper.

We had macaroni cheese with a couple of different salads for supper, followed my homemade chocolate cake. After supper the four teams set off to a high point on the hillside above Loch A Chadh-Fi. It gives a full 360 degree view of all the places we will explore together during the week and a first glimpse of survival island.

The girls and boys seem on great form. Tomorrow our day starts before breakfast, with a swim for the red teams and a run for the blue teams. We’ll be rock climbing and abseiling as well as looking at the ‘fire and food’ elements of the survival skills needed for the island before heading for our wild camp at the foot of the mountains in the evening. Busy busy!
