Winchester House Year 7 arrives to blue skies and sunshine

It has been a beautiful afternoon here in the far northwest. The Winchester House team arrived at 2 pm after a smooth journey. We unloaded bags from the coach and put them in our pickup truck and trailer for the final mile of vehicle track down to the adventure school.

The girls and boys are working in four teams this week. They met Charlotte, Kat, Eliot and Ben (their team instructors) for the 15-minute walk.

We gave the boys and girls a quick tour around, and then the Reds went swimming while the Blues checked through their ‘day-packs’ with Kat and Ben before swapping over so that the Blues could swim before supper.

Macaroni cheese and salads followed by delicious carrot cake for supper tonight.

Tomorrow looks a bit windy. We’ll start the day at 7 a.m. with a run, walk, or swim before breakfast. The Reds will rock climb and abseil and look at the ‘fire and food’ elements of the survival skills needed for the island. The Blues will lift lobster creels in our workboats, see John Ridgway’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat with Rebecca, and look at survival skills ready for the island on Wednesday night.

We plan to wild camp at the foot of the mountains tomorrow evening, so we’ll post more photos and an update on our return from the mountains on Tuesday evening.
