A busy day at the Adventure School

Sunshine, showers and sunshine again!

It was a 7 am wake up call this morning but with excitement brimming over many of the pupils were awake well before that. They were reunited with their big bags that were driven in at low tide late last night, and unpacking was complete before breakfast!

The Year 6s’ have been split into three Blue teams (the Chips, Jeans and Blazers) and three Red teams (the Carpets, Faces and Tapes) and have been all over the place today each doing one activity in the morning and another in the afternoon! Some have been rock climbing and abseiling whilst others sea kayaked. Some learned how to build shelters for Survival Island and foraged for wild foods on the seashore, lighting driftwood fires to cook their catch on.

A strong westerly wind has been a feature of the day making kayaking tricky but it has been largely dry and sunny for the teams and warm in the sunshine for the teams operating around the shore.

After supper of mince and tatties followed by apple crumble, the Reds departed for a wild camping spot in the mountains. It will be their basecamp tonight in preparation for an ascent of Ben Stack tomorrow.

The Blues are at the Adventure School tonight with more kayaking, survival skills and lobster creels tomorrow before they leave for the camp and an ascent of Ben Stack on Tuesday.
