Survivors return from the island

Survival Island – a chance to shape their own experience without the input of teachers or instructors, to be self-reliant, exist for a night with meagre supplies, to reflect on four days of big challenges in the mountains and on the sea.

AG and BH using old yacht sails to build shelters for the team high on survival island.

The pupils have really risen to every challenge that has been put to them this week, and survival island has been no exception. With great weather and a stunning backdrop, they have put everything they have learned into action on their own. It is great to observe such a mature and capable group of young people enjoy this place and experience.

Off the island early this morning for a slower-paced day and a chance to see John Ridgway’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat. Beach day tomorrow before an early afternoon departure for Inverness and the Night Sleeper train back to the south. Well done Class 8, a real credit to yourselves, your school and Class teacher.
