Two busy days at Ardmore

Sunday seems a long time ago and we had a busy day in beautiful weather, sea kayaking on Loch A Chadh-Fi and learning to light fires with flints, cook mussels, brew bog myrtle tea and roast ‘damper’ over open fires.

The band of rain that had swept through England yesterday was set to hover over us all day today. With a poor forecast for the mountain we changed our plans and took boats across the loch to a wild camping spot on the shores of Loch Dughaill, making the most of a stunning sunset against an Atlantic horizon last night, and giving us a reasonably short walk back in the morning.

The forecast was pretty much spot on and the rain hung around for much of the day today. After brunch at the Adventure School the blues and reds did battle in a raft race; building rafts from spars and barrels and racing them on the sea loch. A clean sweep for the two red teams!

Rain has not dampened spirits and we head for the hills tomorrow with a better forecast and our eyes on the summit of Arkle.
