Team Kingshott School

A busy day at Ardmore

Monday was a day for sea kayaking and rock climbing. Early morning drizzle did nothing to put the reds off a swim before breakfast, even Mr Mannall and Mr Walton joined the swimming team!

The blue teams were sea kayaking during the day, accompanied by an inquisitive grey seal in the morning. The seals are usually further out into Loch Laxford at this time of year but take a cautious interest in the kayaks. The blues were also learning to build improvised shelters, skills that will be put into practice on survival island.

Establishing camp at the bothy with our mountain behind

The reds were rock climbing on the ancient outcrops above the Adventure School. There are a range of climbs to test all abilities and all the teams learned to belay the climbers with our instructors.

After supper we left to wild camp at the bothy. It is a beautifully remote spot between two mountains, and the launch pad for our mountain day. Superb weather for the night, a light breeze and an amazing sunset.
