Team Hornsby House

Hornsby House ‘Part Deux’

The second half of Hornsby House Year 6 arrived just after 3pm yesterday afternoon. We loaded bags onto the 4×4 and trailer and the boys and girls met Bryony, Henry and Erin, their team instructors, before walking along the track to the Adventure School.

First up was a swim in the sea loch just yards from the door. The teams swam out to our wooden raft moored in the middle of the loch. Lots of jumping and diving and a lot of noise too.

We also took time before supper to check the contents of the pupils’ day packs. These will become their little packs of self-reliance, so they carry everything they need for big days out in our wild landscape.

After supper the teams climbed to a high point above the adventure school. It gives a great view of all the places we will explore together over the week.

Today we are planning trips out in our workboats to lift and rebait lobster creels, get a closer look at survival island, and stop at Ardmore to see the 1966 Atlantic rowing boat. We’ll also be looking at the skills needed for the boys and girls to build their shelters on the island.

More news to follow here on our ‘journal’ over the coming days.
