Creels, rowing boat and sea kayaking

It has been a day of boats today. After the usual run or swim before breakfast the Red teams took to the water in sea kayaks and the Blues boarded the workboats to lift some lobster creels. The kayakers split into three little pods with Bryony, Erin and Henry. They explored the sheltered coves and bays of sea loch, learned some skills and played a few games on their journey.

Meanwhile the Blues were lifting creels to look at different types of crabs, and a couple of lobsters as part of a plentiful haul. The boys and girls handled the catch before returning it to the sea. As the workboats turned for home they stopped in at Ardmore with Rebecca to see her father’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat and her own 1992 Cape Horn Expedition sea kayak and to hear stories of those two adventures.

In the afternoon the teams swapped over and took to the sea again. The teams are on the island tonight, putting everything they have learned so far in to practice for themselves.
