St Leonards arrive in the wild northwest

Wild, windy and atmospheric here at Ardmore today. The St Leonards team arrived just after lunch all togged up for the weather and ready to go straight off the coach. We loaded the bags into the pickup and trailer and the boys and girls were then off on foot for the last mile along the path to the adventure school with their instructors. The Red team are working with Henry this week, the Blues with Erin and the Greens with Zeki.

With gusts up to 40mph swimming out to the raft in the middle of the loch wasn’t going to be possible but the kids were wildly excited at the prospect of a quick dook staying close to shore, so we did that instead. We also looked at the kit they have brought with them and checked their day packs ready for the adventures to come. Thanks for watching the bag packing film clip! It certainly kept our kit faff to a minimum.

After supper we headed up the hillside to get a first glimpse of survival island without getting blown away. The girls and boys seem endlessly enthusiastic despite the wild weather. I think they will get on very well here.

Run or swim before breakfast tomorrow then a day of survival skills learning all the hard skills that they will need on the island. More news to follow here in the coming days.
