Team Robert Gordons College

A damp day but no dampened spirits

Another mild and calm day with not a breath of wind, reasonable conditions for our mountain day. Low cloud gave some good navigation challenges for the teams and the instructors worked with them on taking and walking accurately on compass bearings and distance judgement with timing and pacing.

Part of the blue team on the first of Arkle’s two summits

Everyone made it across the ridge to the second summit in good time and good heart. As we dropped down and out of the coire on the south-west flank we came out of the cloud.

Nils and Ailsa led the team in a search and rescue exercise. A test of communication skills and teamwork at the end of a full mountain day. They organised the team to carry out a line search on the remaining descent slopes to find, treat and evacuate a ‘casualty’. They made a great job of it.
