Great night for survival island
A brilliant team performance from the Form 1 Leavers.
It is Friday morning and the Form 1 leavers are sitting down to a hearty cooked breakfast after great success on survival island. The Belhaven leavers only have a handful of days left together before the summer holidays and then move on to their senior schools. It seems fitting that they should have had such amazing weather for their night on the island. Blue skies and a good breeze. The Red and Blues teams came together on the island to form a single camp on the highest point. It doesn’t always work well when teams combine. Too many cooks and all that… but the boys and girls pulled it off and have had a brilliant (if a little sleep deprived) night.
From their camp, they could watch the sunset over the Atlantic and light Arkle (the mountain we climbed together on Wednesday) pink in the late evening light. A great culimation of their week here.
Since the last post on the journal we have climbed Arkle, sea kayaked, swum (a lot), lifted lobster pots, seen the 1966 Atlantic rowing boat and survived together overnight on the island. We’ve packed a lot in and the pupils have achieved so much. No doubt there will be many asleep on the coach journey back to Belhaven this afternoon.
