Team Heath Mount

Mountaineers return to sunshine and swimming

The pupils are back at the Adventure School after a good day out on the mountain. We left from our wild camp this morning after a hot breakfast in the bothy.  Each of the four teams picked a different route with their instructors up the open south-east slopes of Arkle and into the clouds to the first summit.

Enjoying the evening sunshine on the shore in front of the Adventure School

The mountain then narrows to a curving horizontal ridge and rises gradually to the second and higher summit at just over 780m above sea level. By lunch all four teams and all the pupils had reached the top!!

We were in the cloud for much of the day and although we couldn’t get a view from the top it was dry and pretty warm.

A good bunch of the pupils opted for a swim when they came back from the mountain, and others just a nice warm shower before supper.

Its a beautiful evening and the clouds have now cleared completely and the pupils have been relaxing outside and on the seashore before bed. A few tired legs tonight but a great achievement by all!!
