Team St John's Leatherhead

Sea kayaking under blue skies

Team out on survival island tonight

Beautiful blue skies today for sea kayaking. The challenging weather of the last few days in the mountains has really brought the best out of this team, but the weather has passed now and we had calm seas and warm sunshine in the inner reaches of Loch Laxford.

Kayaking through clefts in the cliffs at the mouth of Loch Laxford

We pulled in to a small cove on the far side of the loch for lunch before heading up to the headland of Sgeir Rhuadh and the open Atlantic. Just a gentle roll from the swell and a sweeping ocean horizon.

Seals followed us back from the mouth of Loch Laxford as we paddled back to Ardmore.

The team are on survival island this evening and as I write this a thin plume of smoke from their fire can be seen rising from the highest point of the island.
